Orange County chapter of the National Youth Rights Association is
working on lowering the voting age. However, is interested in stopping
all forms of discrimination against youth. If you know of any form of discrimination in Orange County, from a Cerfew to discrimination in businesses, this group will help with your cause as well. Were'll all in this together. NYRA-OC Endorses Dennis Kucinich for President of the United States. Dennis has been a strong supporter of youth rights and is currently the only candidate to support lowering the voting age. Dennis is also opposed to the war that has killed over 400 of America's youth before thier first chance to vote for President. Members of the NYRA-OC have voted to condemn the ageist, civil rights discrimination created by Robert Jordan's refusal to put registered Democrats on the ballot for state central committee delegate because they were under eighteen at the time of filing for delegate status. The Orange County Chapter has called for Edwards to withdraw from the 2008 Democratic Presidential race for his use of questionable campaign tactics. Current actions: CDP Bylaws Changes So far we have been succesful in getting through a resolution calling for the lowering of the voting age and inclusion of youth in the CDP. We are working to implement bylaws changes that will make all provision consistant with their July, 2005 resolution calling for the inclusion of youth in the CDP. Candidates/Incumbants This chapter has passed a resolution to only back candidates who support youth rights issues, such as lowering the voting age. We will work to get candidates/incumbants who are on our side and support us in lowering the voting age elected or re-elected to the office of their choice. Letter writing Letter writing campaign. At our meeting we will work on writing letters to our representatives, senators and state legislators of our area. We recommend that before writing a letter to your elected officials you find out their position of lowering the voting age or whatever it is that you will be writing to him/her about. This chapter is located throughout the whole of Orange County, California. |
